SHAKOPEE, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers softball team stayed hot on Friday afternoon, defeating the Shakopee Sabers 10-0 in five innings in a South Suburban Conference matchup. The Tigers used a combination of patient hitting and strong pitching to pick up another key SSC victory.
RECAP
Farmington wasted no time getting on the board, scoring twice in the top of the first inning thanks to an RBI fielder's choice from Leah Oistad and a sacrifice fly by Kayla Schweich. The Tigers added two more runs in the second, highlighted by a bases-loaded walk drawn by Kayley Schuenemann.
In the third inning, Lexi Goring's sacrifice fly extended Farmington's lead to 5-0, and the Tigers would go on to tack on five more runs before the game was called in the fifth via the 10-run rule.
Schweich was dominant in the circle, earning the win with a two-hit shutout over five innings. She did not walk a batter and kept the Shakopee lineup off balance all afternoon.
At the plate, Schweich also led the way with three RBIs. Ellie Peterson and Goring each collected two hits to pace a Tiger offense that drew eight walks and consistently pressured Shakopee's defense.
Farmington played clean defensively, turning one double play and committing no errors.
