BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers softball team secured the South Suburban Conference title outright with a dominant 10-0 road win over the Burnsville Blaze on Thursday night. The victory closed out an impressive regular season for the Tigers, who finish 18-2 overall and 15-2 in conference play. Farmington now holds back-to-back SSC championships, following last year's co-title with Rosemount.
RECAP
Locked in a scoreless contest early, the Tigers broke through in the fourth inning with an RBI single from Kayla Schweich. Farmington added to its lead in the fifth before erupting for five runs in the sixth—despite not recording a hit in the frame. A string of fielder's choices and bases-loaded walks helped the Tigers create separation and take full control of the game.
Lila Johannsen led the way offensively, going 3-for-3 with a triple, double, and single, reaching base four times and driving in a run. She tripled in the seventh to spark the final scoring surge.
In the circle, Schweich was untouchable. The junior threw a complete-game shutout, allowing no hits, no walks, and striking out six across seven innings to earn the win.
