Stephen Sabetti Selected As New Head Boys Hockey Coach

FARMINGTON, Minn. – Farmington High School Athletic Director Keith Badger announced Monday that, pending school board approval, Stephen Sabetti has been selected as the next head coach of the Farmington High School boys hockey program.

Sabetti brings over 25 years of coaching experience across both boys and girls high school hockey, along with an extensive background in education. He began his teaching and coaching career at Red Wing High School as an assistant for the boys hockey program. Over the years, he has held both head and assistant coaching roles in hockey and golf, including a previous stint with the Farmington girls hockey team.

Currently a social studies teacher at Lakeville North High School, Sabetti resides in Lakeville with his wife, Kathy. The couple has two children—Julia, a chemical engineering graduate from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and Jack, a metallurgical engineering student at South Dakota School of Mines. Both Julia and Jack competed in high school and collegiate golf.

A lifelong hockey enthusiast, Sabetti first stepped on the ice at age one and has maintained a connection to the game ever since. "After years of building character, shaping young minds, and fostering teams with heart, I'm honored to step into this new chapter," Sabetti said. "Coaching has never just been about the game of hockey—it's about growth, grit, and guiding others to be their best, on and off the ice."

"Coach Sabetti has an exceptional coaching pedigree and knowledge of the game," said Badger. "I'm looking forward to supporting his efforts to build upon the strong foundation Coach May established last season."

Coach Sabetti met with players on Thursday morning and will begin working with the team during the MSHSL Summer Waiver Period.
