Farmington, Minn. - Tiger Football fell to 0-2 on the young season after dropping their home opener to Lakeville South, 35-14.
The Tiger defense came out strong and forced three straight three-and-outs from the Cougar offense and held the game scoreless after one quarter. However, Lakeville South took the opening play of the second quarter 67 yards to the house for the first of their five rushing touchdowns.
The Tigers trailed 14-0 at halftime, but snapped up points after a timely interception gathered by
Josh Berreth led to a rushing touchdown for
Jeffrey Branson to tighten the South lead to just 14-7.
That would be the closet the Tigers would get on the evening. With 2:10 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Lakeville South scored on a 22-yard run. Two more Cougar touchdowns in the 4th quarter would open the game up.
Lane Johnson added a 10-yard touchdown on the ground late in the game to make the final score 35-14.
