Farmington, Minn. -- The Tigers lost another heartbreaker on Thursday, 29-21 at home to the defending MSHSL Class 6A state runner-up Rosemount Irish.
After deferring to the second half, the Tiger defense forced a three-and-out on the first possession of the game. However, despite beginning on offense in Irish territory, the Tigers would turn it over on downs.
Trailing 7-0, the Tigers punted to the Irish in the second quarter.
Edon Davis picked off a tipped pass on third down and set up shop for the Tiger offense inside the Redzone. The Tigers would not disappoint and cashed in the points on a rushing touchdown from
Jonah Ask.
After an Irish field goal, the Tigers marched down the field and took their first lead of the night on a three-yard touchdown rush from
Layne Johnson.
On the ensuing drive,
Tanner Rezny jumped on a comeback route and picked off the first pass of the new Irish drive with less than a minute remaining in the first half. A critical Roughing the Passer penalty extended the drive for the Tigers and they took a 21-10 lead into halftime on a
Brock Wyandt seven-yard touchdown rush.
Unfortunately, the magic stopped there for the Tigers as they were outscored 19-0 in the second half and fell to 0-5 on the season.
