COON RAPIDS, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers ended their regular season on a high note, cruising to a 48-6 victory over the Coon Rapids Cardinals on Thursday afternoon. Farmington jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back, finishing the regular season with a 5-3 record. The Tigers now shift their focus to the MSHSL Class 6A playoffs.
RECAP
Farmington set the tone early in the first quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run from Brock Wyandt. Quarterback Jonah Ask then connected with Wyandt for a 53-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 14-0. As time expired in the first quarter, Ask added a 6-yard rushing touchdown to give the Tigers a 20-0 advantage.
In the second quarter, Ask continued his stellar performance, running in another touchdown from 2 yards out to make it 27-0 at halftime.
The Tigers stayed hot in the third quarter. Chris Rehak punched in a 4-yard touchdown run, followed by Layne Johnson scoring on a 5-yard run to extend the lead to 41-0. A 5-yard touchdown run from Gavin Holmquist early in the fourth quarter capped off the scoring for Farmington.
Defensively, the Tigers were relentless, forcing three turnovers, including interceptions by Joe Seyfert, Max Blandin, and Logan Petsinger. The defense held Coon Rapids scoreless until the final quarter, when the Cardinals scored their lone touchdown on a 1-yard run.

The #4-seeded Farmington Tigers will host the #5-seeded Prior Lake Lakers in the first round of the MSHSL Class 6A playoffs on Friday, October 25 at Farmington High School. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
