Tigers' Comeback Falls Short in 18-10 Loss to Eagan

EAGAN, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers fought hard in the second half but ultimately fell short, losing 18-10 to the Eagan Wildcats on Friday night at Eagan High School. Trailing 18-0 at halftime, the Tigers clawed their way back into the game, but a late interception sealed the victory for Eagan. The loss moves Farmington to 3-3 on the season, while Eagan improves to 4-2.

RECAP

The Wildcats opened the scoring late in the first quarter, with B. Evans finding the end zone on a 1-yard run. After a penalty on the extra point attempt, Eagan opted to go for two, with C. Brandt converting successfully for an 8-0 lead. The Wildcats added a 36-yard field goal from S. Kolehmainen late in the second quarter to extend their advantage to 11-0 heading into halftime.

Eagan scored again in the third quarter, with Evans adding a 2-yard rushing touchdown. Kolehmainen's extra point made it 18-0 in favor of the Wildcats. Farmington finally got on the board with a 26-yard field goal by Ethan Geisler with 1:28 left in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 18-3.

The Tigers' defense stepped up in the fourth quarter, forcing a fumble that set up the offense with good field position. Quarterback Jonah Ask capitalized, finding Brock Wyandt for a 12-yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 18-10 after Geisler's extra point.

Farmington held Eagan on their next possession and put together a promising drive, moving down to the Wildcats' 19-yard line in the final moments of the game. However, Ask's attempt to find the end zone was intercepted, ending the Tigers' comeback hopes.
