Farmington, Minn. -- In SSC softball action, the Farmington Tigers clashed with the Burnsville Blaze in a tightly contested matchup.
Burnsville seized an early lead in the top of the first inning when a single brought home a run, aided by an error by shortstop
Lila Johannsen. The Blaze extended their lead in the second inning with a powerful home run, putting them up 2-0.
However, the Tigers rallied in the bottom of the third inning, with Katie Klotz's single bringing in both Lexi Goring and Peyton Boyd, knotting the score at 2-2. Burnsville retaliated in the top of the fourth with a double, driving in a run and edging ahead 3-2.
The Blaze added to their lead in the fifth inning with a double, bringing home another run, followed by a single, extending their lead to 5-2. Yet, the Tigers roared back in the bottom of the fifth as Lila Johannsen scored on a wild pitch, and Hannah Hansen's single brought in Katie Klotz and Lila Johannsen, swinging the score to 6-5 in Farmington's favor.
Farmington continued their offensive surge in the sixth inning, with Lexi Goring's double bringing in another run, while Kam Hughes doubled to drive in Lexi Goring, cementing Farmington's lead at 7-5. Despite Burnsville's efforts, the Tigers held on to secure a narrow victory, clinching the win in SSC softball action.
