Farmington Falls to Lakeville South in High-Scoring Battle, 50-29

FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers fell to the Lakeville South Cougars in a high-scoring 50-29 loss on Friday night at Lakeville South High School. Both teams traded blows throughout the game, but the Cougars' dominant rushing attack proved too much for the Tigers to overcome. The defeat leaves both teams with a 1-1 record as Farmington looks ahead to its Homecoming matchup next week.

RECAP:

Lakeville South opened the scoring with a 69-yard touchdown run by Bo Bokman, taking an early 6-0 lead after a missed extra point. Farmington responded midway through the first quarter with a 23-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jonah Ask to Cody Rezny, putting the Tigers ahead 7-6 following Ethan Geisler's successful extra point. The Cougars reclaimed the lead before the end of the quarter, however, with a 17-yard touchdown run from Jonah Shine and a successful two-point conversion, giving Lakeville South a 14-7 advantage.

Farmington briefly took the lead again in the second quarter with a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Layne Johnson and a two-point conversion run by Ask to go up 15-14. Lakeville South answered with back-to-back rushing touchdowns by Bokman, including a 1-yard score just before halftime, to take a 29-15 lead into the locker room.

The Tigers attempted a comeback in the third quarter as Ask scored on an 8-yard touchdown run to bring the score to 29-22. But Lakeville South quickly countered with a 56-yard touchdown run from Nicolas Swanson, extending their lead to 36-22. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars continued their ground assault with touchdowns by Hayden Egner and Bokman. Farmington's final score came on a 1-yard plunge by Brock Wyandt, but it wasn't enough to close the gap as Lakeville South sealed the 50-29 victory.
