Hall of Fame
Farmington High School is proud to honor Byron Olson with induction into the Hall of Fame as a Community Member for his extraordinary leadership, service, and lifelong dedication to athletics.
Byron served as Farmington High School’s Athletic Director from 1988–1999, where he left a lasting mark by not only strengthening the athletic department but also by building traditions that continue to thrive today. During his tenure, he:
- Organized the Letterwinners Club (1988)
- Organized the Farmington Area Sports Association (1990)
- Organized training for Peers Against Chemicals (1989)
- Founded the Tiger Scramble Golf Tournament (1990)
- Organized the Run with Tiger Fun Run (1991–1999)
- Created the Farmington Tiger Athletic Hall of Fame (1991)
- Organized the Farmington Leadership Club (1992)
- Founded the Tiger Fan Club (1994)
Beyond Farmington, Byron’s service to athletics—especially wrestling—spans decades at the state, national, and collegiate levels. His contributions include:
- Wrestling official for 48 years and football official for 27 years
- MSHSL State Wrestling Tournament Assistant Manager (1995–2000)
- MSHSL State Wrestling Tournament Manager (2000–2022)
- MSHSL Wrestling Advisory Committee member (1991–2015)
- MSHSL State Wrestling Tournament Official (1991–1993)
- MSHSL Wrestling Rules Clinician (1992–1995) and Head Rules Clinician (1995–2020)
- MSHSL Wrestling Official Training & Observation Coordinator (2008–2017)
- NFHS Wrestling Rules Meeting participant (1995–2020) and Presenter (2008, 2009)
- NCAA Wrestling Official (1998–2016)
- NJCAA Wrestling Tournament Official (1999–2004)
Through vision, innovation, and a relentless commitment to student-athletes, Byron built programs that have strengthened the Farmington community for generations. His leadership helped shape the foundation of Tiger Athletics and left an indelible legacy both locally and statewide.
